Manual picking operations in warehouses and production stores led to significant operational challenges including frequent picking errors that resulted in order fulfillment delays and customer dissatisfaction. The process suffered from slow fulfillment cycles due to operator inefficiency, high dependency on individual operator skill and memory, lack of real-time visibility into material movement patterns, inventory inaccuracy across storage locations, and limited traceability of what was picked, when, and by whom. These issues compounded in fast-paced environments, increasing costs associated with rework, corrections, and compliance failures.

EMERSIT implemented the Pika Pika Machine Pick-to-Light system, an intelligent warehouse automation solution that combines barcode-triggered workflows with illuminated LED displays to guide operators to correct storage locations in real time. The system displays pick quantities dynamically, enables each transaction to be validated through button confirmation before advancing to the next location, and integrates seamlessly with ERP/WMS platforms for complete end-to-end traceability and visibility into material movement and inventory accuracy.

Barcode-Triggered Workflow Engine

Operators scan a barcode to initiate a picking task. The system immediately queries the ERP/WMS, retrieves the pick list, and triggers the light display logic sequence across the warehouse.

LED Light Tower Display & Guidance

Illuminated LED display units mounted at each storage location activate in sequence. Operators are guided visually to the correct bin, shelf, or location. Light intensity and color coding (e.g., green for active location, red for alerts) ensure clarity even in high-volume environments.

Real-Time Pick Quantity Display

Digital displays show the exact quantity to pick from each location. Operators can confirm they have picked the correct amount before the system advances to the next location.

Button Confirmation & Transaction Validation

After picking from a location, operators press a confirmation button. The system records the transaction, validates the pick against the pick list, and either advances to the next location or flags discrepancies for resolution.

ERP/WMS System Integration

All pick transactions flow directly into the ERP/WMS platform via API. Goods movement, inventory updates, and fulfillment status are synchronized in real time, eliminating manual data entry and reconciliation delays.

End-to-End Traceability & Reporting

Every pick is logged with operator ID, timestamp, location, quantity, and confirmation status. Managers access real-time dashboards showing picking progress, error rates, and cycle time analytics for continuous optimization.
